Rugby beach festival

Chichester Rugby Club are again hosting their beach Rugby festival at West Wittering beach on the 9th July starting at 10:30am.

Last year, ther were 32 teams participating, and though the aim was to have fun it soon became quite a serious and also in parts deadly contest! There were mixed teams which added to the fun element as the game is Tag , so it is non-contact but very fast and extremely technical. With refreshments and also the involvement of Sussex Society referees, which meant that the games were organised (at least some thought that way!), as well as beating the tide with the Final played as the sea lapped the southern in-goal area, and the Gulls circled (ever thought they can look a little hungry late into the evening?), the event this year hopes to emulate that as well as perhaps prove not only to be regular each year but well supported and popular.

There is an official RFU involvement with limited sponsorship plus Kit for players and referees, and to promote this form of the game, and Chichester Rugby Club hope that this will become a recognised annual event on the season’s calender.
